In the roaring twenties, prohibition ended in the heart of downtown Detroit, and with it, an entrepreneurial spirit. Eight childhood friends, three University of Michigan grads and one bachelor party campfire scheme was the beginning of Detroit City Distillery. Co-owner J.P. Jerome credits a lifetime of friendship and collaboration with the success of the company that now has a full line of small-batch artisanal whiskey, gin, and vodka.

Every few months, Weiss staff members collaborate to create a unique and delicious new menu with drinks that are both inventive and on-theme. For example, the “Real Macaw” shot combines rum and fruit served in a parrot shooter.

With their first season in Downtown Clawson under their belt, Weiss is already establishing themselves as one of Metro Detroit’s most creative bars. After a spooky jungle theme and summertime Paczki Day Vodka, the cocktail bar has now rebranded itself to an adult winter wonderland. Whites and blues are the color palette of the bar, complete with snow-dusted trees, white flower arrangements, fur pelts lining the booths and cool blue lighting.
